![]() However, the choice of this starting date implies introduction of BTV-8 in 2006. Possible routes of BTV-8 introduction into the original epicentre of the epidemic in northern Europe were investigated from 1 January 2006 through 18 August 2006 but the exact route of the introduction remained unknown. In the past, several retrospective and proactive studies have been successfully conducted to determine the first occurrence of an emerging infectious disease (EID) in a country (e.g., transmissible spongiform encephalopathies and bovine parafiliariosis), but limited studies have been carried out on the incursion of BTV-8 into northern Europe (e.g., ). Moreover, a longitudinal study of clinical BT cases in cattle indicated that photosensitization-like lesions may occur at a late stage in BT suspected and subsequently confirmed cases. In late June, Belgian veterinarians saw an unusual number of bovine cases that they primarily attributed to photosensitization or exposure to mycotoxins (sporidesmins), entities that could be included in the differential diagnosis of BT. Retrospective preliminary reports on the first observed BTV outbreaks in Belgium and Germany indicate that the first BTV clinical signs appeared around 17 July to 5 August 2006 (, ). The presumptive earliest date when clinical signs were observed was on the 30–31 July 2006 in The Netherlands. įew and limited data concerning the date of real introduction of BTV-8 in the northern European epicentre are currently published. While clinical surveillance underestimated the true impact of the epidemic (lack of sensitivity) it indicated the correct spatial trend. In addition, most evidence of the emerging disease was detected clinically, in the first instance, by veterinary practitioners. This preliminary investigation was confirmed by a seroprevalence survey of BTV-8 in cattle in the Netherlands in spring 2007 and was supported by Belgian findings. ![]() In northern Europe in 2006, statistical analysis based on 79.2% of first outbreaks notified before 15 September 2006, showed that the first significant disease cluster (epicentre) was located in The Netherlands, south of Maastricht (border area with Belgium and Germany) and had a 20 km radius. The third is through the active flight of infected vector Culicoides (local propagation) and the fourth is through passive flight of infected vector Culicoides by the wind (responsible for long-distance dissemination). The second is by infected vector Culicoides carried by various living (plants, animals) or inanimate (airplanes, ships) means. The first is through movement of viraemic animals (domestic and wild ruminants) or animal germplasm (semen, embryos). Ĭurrently, introduction of BTV from one area to another is thought to be able to occur in four ways. ![]() Whilst the full animal welfare and economic costs have not yet been fully quantified at the European level but some national studies are available such as the financial consequences of the Dutch bluetongue serotype 8 epidemics in 20. The great majority of the outbreaks was detected in four countries: France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Indeed, in 2007, the BTV8 expanded its range to include several European countries, involving at the end of the period: Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Switzerland and United Kingdom. In contrast to 2006 when the virus was identified on some 2000 holdings, more than 40,000 of ruminant holdings became affected in 2007 with many infected animals exhibiting disease ( Animal Disease Notification System, ). ![]() ![]() In 2007, following a brief winter halt to its transmission, the virus re-emerged after overwintering via an unidentified mechanism in the previously infected areas. įirstly notified at 17 August 2006, BTV-8, thought to be of possible sub-Saharan origin, initiated an epidemic of BT in northern Europe (mainly The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany) –. He also turned out to be an impostor, Eobard Thawne, also known as the Reverse Flash, using Allen and his friends to return to his own time. The kindly, crippled genius became Barry Allen's mentor and guiding light, beloved by every member of Team Flash. In the CW's first season of The Flash, we got to know who we believed was Harrison Wells. That doesn't shine through much in The Avengers, but it's what motivates Thor to not merely destroy his brother, but bring him home to Asgard. Likewise, Loki was a far more interesting villain in The Avengers than Ultron was in Age of Ultron, simply because Loki-however wicked and devious he can be-has moments of real humanity and even courage. Vulture was a bad guy, but he was a bad guy you could relate to and Peter Parker ultimately decided he was worthy of mercy and that redemption was possible. Spider-Man: Homecoming worked largely because Vulture (Michael Keaton) was an interesting, sympathetic villain whose bad deeds grew out of injustices foisted upon him by Tony Stark. ![]() Also, with the 1.5:1 transmission, the RPM's were low, so it had good top speed and low RPM's while surfing but still seemed to get out of the hole pretty well, although I am sure for heavily loaded wakeboarding it would struggle. ![]() Most Centurion setups I found had about +6k of total ballast, and I am sure at that point they throw a monster wave, but so would lots of other boats. but it still had more ballast than any other boat I rode that weekend. In fairness, we did not add any extra weight to the Centurion, which by all accounts is needed in the rear. Honestly I don't know who could surf the Centurion back to back with the X24 or Xstar and walk away thinking it was even remotely comparable. The XT23 I rode had 600 pounds of lead (3,300 pounds total) and I would put the size of the Centurion wave at about the same level, but the XT23 had more power to keep my 200 pounds in the wave for sure. The fi25 was a little worse, probably because it had the same amount of ballast in a bigger boat. I am a little torn on this because it had 4,850 pounds of ballast stock, and even though the wave was good - it was not phenomenal, not as good as I was expecting for running that much weight in a 23 foot boat. You could make it mellow, and get it somewhat steep - but it had pretty good size and volume. for a stock boat the wave was really nice. Here are my thoughts about the Centurion. This weekend, I got to surf, drive and setup the XT23, X24, Xstar, Fi23 and Fi25 back to back over two days. I have not surfed behind a new Centurion before this last weeekend, and honestly, I had to admit that with some having 5400 pounds of stock ballast and the deep V - I had kind of resigned to the notion that they might have the best surf wave on the market. You will need loads of additonal ballast in the S238 to get the same surf wave as the ZS with OEM plug and play.I am very lucky in that I have lots of friends with boats, and one that is the sales manager for my local MC dealer - who is now the new Centurion dealer. Had a demo S238 for a few weeks while my ZS was getting completed (at the factory) and while not a bad boat was nowhere near as good as the ZS. Supreme is made in the same plant as Centurion.īefore I had one, i was pretty skeptical about the brand myself as their previous offerings were not great, but as with Centurion, they have really stepped up their game. Plus, IMO the PCM Powerplant is far superior to all the others out there. Hinged seat cushions, adding an 8" speaker by the driver, better step down to swim platform (it's a BIG step), and I would have gotten the Skyon Skylock Racks instead of the bungee ones. No porpoising, minimal bow rise, great ride. The helm is perfect (for me), the surf wave was legit and you could fine tune it so easily. I've had over 14 boats and change every year. I had a 2019 Supreme ZS232 and it was one of my favorite boats i've owned. Message our friendly mods if we are slow to manually approve content! Posts not showing up?
